What You Should Know About Matt Lettington
I have been a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist for 9 plus years, with offices in Bettendorf and Muscatine. My Masters Degree was earned through Liberty University in Lynchburg VA. Before I became a Professional Therapist I was a 13 year veteran with Youth For Christ USA where I worked with Junior and Senior High School Youth Ministry.
Matt applies the principles and truths that he has learned through 13 years of Youth Ministry with Youth for Christ/ USA; Bible College Education at Grace University (Omaha) where he received his Bachelors Degree, as well as the life lessons he has learned in his 45 years experiencing life issues.
My approach is Christian at it’s core in that most of my life experience has been in Christian ministry. As I have grown in my experience as a Christian Marriage and Family Therapist I have found that it is essential Integrate Cognitive Behavioral/Solution Focused perspectives in my approach. That may sound like a lot of terminology that can get confusing but that is not intentional. Basically I would sum up what I do is work with people who feel like life or marriage has become very difficult to deal with. I work with them to find solutions that will help create a higher level of functioning.
What I believe is the most important part of the counseling experience is that I will work with my clients to create possible resolutions to the issues that have them frustrated with life. I work with clients who are not functioning at their highest level’s in their lives, this may look like Depression, Anxiety, Marriage Crisis, or Parenting issues.
When you begin counseling with me, whether it is marriage related or individual, I will promise to be truthful and honest with you. My goal is to help you create solutions by incorporating healthy psychological and biblical treatments to resolve the destructive issues you are facing. Most of my clients report feeling more “hopeful” that a healthier life is possible as individuals and in their relationships.
I believe that my role is to help you find the path that leads to the water that each client can choose to drink or not drink. I do not fix you and I have no messiah complex that makes me believe that you have to rely on me for a healthy life, I am just here to assist you.
